The Beauty of Night Hikes: Exploring Nature's Wonders After Dark

Night hikes in the Amazon Rainforest really are a step into a new world. Like this small basin tree frog, every inch of the forest floor has something new to offer. From tree frogs to tarantulas, the Amazon rainforest always kept us on our toes. We learned that the key to finding these little bundles of joy is to use a flashlight in a sweeping motion to see the shine of their eyes amongst the dark background. While the large animals are great to photograph, it is truly wonderful to get up close and personal with smaller animals (safety permitting, of course). Startling the animals with a bright light is the last thing you want to do when getting up close to them, so we used a high-power flashlight from good distance to capture this beauty enjoying the evening hours.
